Count time

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

The daily life of the inmate is built around count time. Everything depends on it and is somehow related to it. Meetings with friends are arranged to be “after count”, or “lets do this or that” when count clears. If I added up all the minutes I did waiting for count to “Clear”, it probably would add up to a couple of year’s time.

It’s a great feeling to hear a C.O. holler “Clear”. The doors are unlocked and gates are opened. The inmate is now free to roam wherever he may go. Contact with people from other buildings is now possible. Things always look better when count is cleared!

I am a convicted felon. In 1991 I was tried and convicted of felony murder in the 1st degree. Going on to serve 15 years in a state penitentiary, I was released in September 2006. I am currently completing 3 years parole and a 10 year probation period.

Having been asked many times what prison is really like, I decided to make my experiences public. All the stories below are based on truth and what happened to me.
I do not intend to be biased either pro or con. These writings are intended to provide my own views, thoughts, and feelings as I experienced.
